EIGHT WOMEN RECEIVE FELLOWSHIPS AT ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY
CHICAGO (September 7, 2007) - The Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Women Leaders in Real Estate initiative has awarded fellowships to eight students in the Chicago School of Real Estate at Roosevelt University.
The 2007/2008 recipients are: Wendy Mingin, The John Buck Company; Paige Steers, Jones Lang LaSalle; Carrie Wagener, Owen Wagener & Co.; Sacia Fowler; Sevara Sherman, Keller Williams; Mysty Harris, Illinois Housing Development Authority; all from Chicago; Renee Huber, Citizens Financial Group/Charter One Bank, of Cary, Ill.; and Kimberly Taylor Wheeler, Paige Staffing Agency of Westchester, Ill.
The women each received fellowships in the amount of $3,000 in tuition assistance, which is being underwritten by Wolfe Miller. Students were selected based on their academic records, professional achievement and commitment to the industry.
Each year a group of mid-career women will be selected as Goldie B. Wolfe Miller fellows and will receive financial and career development support as they pursue their MBAs or Master’s of Science degrees within the Chicago School of Real Estate. The fellowships are part of an initiative specifically geared toward mid-career women in the real estate industry.
“While women have embraced careers as realtors, there is a lack of women in the commercial arena, finance, development and other areas. The ranks of upper management are still disproportionately comprised of men. We want to encourage women to advance further in the field, and provide them with the tools to do so,” says Wolfe Miller.
Mentors selected for the program are: Pam Dudash, CCIM, CPM, MB Real Estate; Veria Ely, Village of Ford Heights; Janet Johnson , Schiff Hardin LLP; Neena Konon, Gensler; Jeanne Meilinger, Transwestern; Mary Nack, Baird & Warner; Nicole Pecoulas, Babson Capital Management LLC; and Cheryl Stein, Cheryl Stein, Inc
